In Memory of Trevor R. Cole, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Puritas
Trevor R. Cole, co-founder and Managing Director of Puritas, passed away on 12 February after a determined fight with motor neurone disease. For everyone at Puritas, this is a significant loss. Trevor was a leader and a consistent presence who played a key role in defining our values and the way we operate.
Puritas was founded in 2006 to bring clarity, control and confidence to complex, regulated environments through practical solutions, strong governance and a focus on quality. Trevor was central to this vision. He helped build a company where quality and continuous improvement are embedded in our delivery, documentation, testing and client support.
Paul Madden, Technical Director, said: “Trevor led with integrity and steady determination. He cared about the detail, but he cared even more about people, how we worked together, how we learned, and how we supported one another. His influence on Puritas is lasting, and he will be deeply missed.”
Before Puritas, Trevor built his career in financial services technology and operations, working at RBSI, Mellon, State Street Bank and Standard Bank, and spending most of his professional life before Puritas with Barclays. At Barclays, he held roles across different business groups and locations, including London, Paris, Singapore, Amsterdam and Jersey. This experience gave him a clear understanding of what effective operations require: clear requirements, strong controls, effective communication and reliable delivery.
Outside Puritas, Trevor applied the same commitment to his interests and community. He was a founding member of Lasardine Cycling Club and was known simply as its ‘El Presidente’. He supported Jersey Stroke Support and helped make it the club’s chosen charity.
At Puritas, Trevor combined strategic leadership with a practical approach. He focused on building trust in every project, prioritising governance, compliance, risk management and making the right decisions, even when they were more challenging. He brought teams together with a collaborative, pragmatic style: keep things workable, keep them simple, and focus on results.
Trevor’s legacy is reflected in the standards we set, the learning culture we maintain, and the confidence our clients place in our work. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone who worked with him. We will continue to uphold his values in everything we do.
